In this paper, the methods of recursive function theory are used to study the size (or cost or complexity) of machines. A positive result of this study shows that to a remarkable degree, the relative size of two machines is independent of the particular way in which machine size is measured.

Inhibition of protein SUMOylation has been shown to block tumorigenesis; however, the specific mechanisms by which SUMOylation controls the tumor‐initiating capacities remain elusive. Li et al. describe the role of Etv1 SUMOylation in cancer stem cells using mouse models of mammary gland tumorigenesis.

Particle accelerators and their detectors are the world’s most powerful microscopes. They enable us to inspect the constituents of matter at attometer scales, study matter under unusual conditions, and concentrate extraordinary amounts of energy into tiny volumes to create new forms of matter and initiate new phenomena.

Simulating Turing machines on Maurer machines
AbstractIn a previous paper, we used Maurer machines to model and analyse micro-architectures. In the current paper, we investigate the connections between Turing machines and Maurer machines with the purpose to gain an insight into computability issues relating to Maurer machines. We introduce ways to simulate Turing machines on a Maurer machine which,

Identification of machining defects by Small Displacement Torsor and form parameterization method [PDF]
In the context of product quality, the methods that can be used to estimate machining defects and predict causes of these defects are one of the important factors of a manufacturing process.

Material microstructure affected machining: a review
The machining induced material microstructure evolution path is determined from the temperature and mechanical loading history. Inversely, the machining forces and machined part surface integrity are dependent on the material microstructure attributes ...

In prostate carcinoma, lactic acid, secreted by highly glycolytic cancer‐associated fibroblasts, is imported into tumor cells through the MCT1 transporter and prevents RSL3 and erastin‐induced ferroptosis (A). Targeting of carbonic anhydrase IX/XII, the main extracellular pH regulators, in tumor and stromal cells reduces microenvironmental acidosis and

Effect of cutting fluids on corrosion properties and turning surface quality of Fe-based superalloy
As the steam turbine rotor works in extreme conditions of high temperature, pressure, speed, and load, better material performance and machined surface quality are highly demanded.

Recent advances in micro- and nano-machining technologies
Device miniaturization is an emerging advanced technology in the 21st century. The miniaturization of devices in different fields requires production of micro- and nano-scale components. The features of these components range from the sub-micron to a few

This study presents a novel AI‐based diagnostic approach—comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis (CSGSA)—that integrates tumor markers and enriched glycopeptides from serum. Using a neural network model, this method accurately distinguishes liver and pancreatic cancers from healthy individuals.
