Calibration procedures for object locating sensors in flexible robotized machining [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present calibration procedures for localization sensor systems for flexible robotic machining. For the needs of flexible production with varying parts and locations, object detection and localizing sensor systems carry out rough global localisation ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Influence of Microstructure on Chip Formation - Machining Aero Engine Alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Aero engine materials such as nickel-iron and titanium based alloys are known to be very difficult to machine. They are also known to produce shear-localized chips; a type of chip which is associated with both an increase of the tool wear and the ...

Adiabatic Shear Banding in Nickel and Nickel-Based Superalloys: A Review

open access: yesMetals, 2022
This review paper discusses the formation and propagation of adiabatic shear bands in nickel-based superalloys. The formation of adiabatic shear bands (ASBs) is a unique dynamic phenomenon that typically precedes catastrophic, unpredicted failure in many

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Part Localization for CNC Machining Using Discrete Point Set Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Machining of components on CNC machining centres without any datum reference or tooling hole details is a challenge and requires mapping of the CAD reference system with the CNC Machine reference system. Applying best fit alignment approach to position

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
