Strength of a matrix with elliptic criterion reinforced by rigid inclusions with imperfect interfaces [PDF]
International audienceElliptic effective strength criteria in the mean-deviatoric stress plane are encountered in porous media for a granular material made of rigid grains with cohesive frictional interfaces or a material with pores in a Drucker-Prager ...

Micro-expression Action Unit Detection with Dual-view Attentive Similarity-Preserving Knowledge Distillation [PDF]
Encoding facial expressions via action units (AUs) has been found to be effective in resolving the ambiguity issue among different expressions. Therefore, AU detection plays an important role for emotion analysis.

Untargeted sequencing of circulating microRNAs in a healthy and diseased older population
We performed untargeted profiling of circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) in a well characterized cohort of older adults to verify associations of health and disease-related biomarkers with systemic miRNA expression.

Towards Reading Hidden Emotions: A comparative Study of Spontaneous Micro-expression Spotting and Recognition Methods [PDF]
Micro-expressions (MEs) are rapid, involuntary facial expressions which reveal emotions that people do not intend to show. Studying MEs is valuable as recognizing them has many important applications, particularly in forensic science and psychotherapy ...

Micro-expression action unit detection with spatial and channel attention [PDF]
Action Unit (AU) detection plays an important role in facial behaviour analysis. In the literature, AU detection has extensive researches in macro-expressions.

N-Step Pre-Training and Décalcomanie Data Augmentation for Micro-Expression Recognition
Facial expressions are divided into micro- and macro-expressions. Micro-expressions are low-intensity emotions presented for a short moment of about 0.25 s, whereas macro-expressions last up to 4 s.

Exceptions, Continuations and Macro-expressiveness [PDF]
This paper studies the problem of expressing exceptions using first-class continuations in a functional-imperative language. The main result is that exceptions cannot be macro-expressed using first-class continuations and references (contrary to "folklore"). This is shown using two kinds of counterexample.

Less is More: Micro-expression Recognition from Video using Apex Frame
Despite recent interest and advances in facial micro-expression research, there is still plenty room for improvement in terms of micro-expression recognition. Conventional feature extraction approaches for micro-expression video consider either the whole
