Synthesis and Evaluation of Chiral Selectors with Multiple Hydrogen-Bonding Sites in the Macrocyclic Cavities

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2010
Chiral macrocycles with the hydrogen bond donor/acceptor sites in the cavity were synthesized and covalently bonded to silica gel to give chiral stationary phases (CSPs), which showed excellent abilities to resolve various chiral compounds including ketones, esters, carboxylic acids, sulfoxides, amines, amino acid derivatives, and metal complexes.

A C84 selective porphyrin macrocycle with an adaptable cavity constructed through alkyne metathesis

Chemical Communications, 2012
A bisporphyrin macrocycle was constructed from a porphyrin-based diyne monomer in one step through alkyne metathesis. The fullerene binding studies (C(60), C(70) and C(84)) showed the highest binding affinity of the macrocycle for C(84), which is in great contrast to its bisporphyrin four-armed cage analogue that showed the strongest binding with C(70).

Structural control of metalloporphyrinogens by macrocycle modification: steric blocking of the macrocyclic cavity through trans-N,N′-dimethylation

Dalton Transactions, 2002
Reactions of potassium metal with trans-N,N′-dimethyl-meso-octaethylporphyrinogen or meso-octaethyldioxaporphyrinogen afford dipotassium complexes with one potassium cation excluded from the cavity on steric grounds in the former case, or both potassium cations bound inside the macrocyclic cavity in the latter case.

pH-Controlled metal translocation outside/inside the cavity of a polyamine macrocycle

Journal of Coordination Chemistry, 2008
The synthesis of the macrocyclic ligand 4,4′-(2,6,10,13,18-pentaaza26)-2,2′-bipyridylcylophane (L), which contains a penta-amine chain linking the 4,4′ positions of a 2,2′-bipyridyl moiety, is reported. The heteroaromatic nitrogens of L are located outside the macrocyclic cavity.

A tetraguanidinium macrocycle for the recognition and cavity expansion of calix[4]arene tetraoxoanions

Supramolecular Chemistry, 2013
Molecular containers have raised an increased interest over the last decade. These supramolecular architectures have found applications in catalysis, molecular sensing or as insulators for key intermediates, among others. In this study, we describe the synthesis and binding properties of a tetraguanidinium macrocycle which forms robust complexes with ...

The mechanism of metal incorporation into the cavity of macrocyclic ligands: a molecular mechanical analysis

Journal of Molecular Structure, 1991
Abstract The subtle structural difference between meso -5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacy-clotetradecane (tet-a) (L 1 ) and c-rac -5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (tet-b) (L 2 ) is responsible for different methods of metal binding. Conformational studies show that steric interactions limit the flexibility of

Shaping the Cavity of the Macrocyclic Ligand in Metallocalix[4]arenes:  The Role of the Ligand Sphere

Inorganic Chemistry, 2001
The coordination form of calix[4]arene ligands and therefore the cavity of the macrocyclic ligand can be controlled by other ligands in transition metal calix[4]arene complexes, if strong directing coligands such as oxo groups are used. This paper describes the synthesis and characterization of the d(0) transition metal complexes [Cax(OMe)(2)O(2)TiCl(2)
