Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

β-Arrestin1 mediates the endocytosis and functions of macrophage migration inhibitory factor. [PDF]
Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a pleiotropic cytokine, regulating inflammatory and immune responses. MIF binds to cell surface receptor CD74, resulting in both rapid and sustained ERK activation.

Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor and Autism Spectrum Disorders [PDF]
OBJECTIVE. Autistic spectrum disorders are childhood neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by social and communicative impairment and repetitive and stereotypical behavior. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is an upstream regulator of innate immunity that promotes monocyte/macrophage-activation responses by increasing the expression of ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Macrophage migration inhibitory factor is required for NLRP3 inflammasome activation
MIF is a cytokine best known for its modulatory effect on expression of proinflammatory cytokines. Here the authors show that MIF facilitates the NLRP3–vimentin interaction, resulting in Nlrp3 inflammasome activation.

Evaluation of MIF -173 G/C Polymorphism in Turkish Patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis
Background: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease mainly affecting the spine and sacroiliac joints. Macrophage migration inhibitory (MIF) factor is a regulatory cytokine that inhibits random immune cell migration.

The role of macrophage migration inhibitory factor in anesthetic-induced myocardial preconditioning. [PDF]
INTRODUCTION: Anesthetic-induced preconditioning (AIP) is known to elicit cardioprotective effects that are mediated at least in part by activation of the kinases AMPK and PKCε as well as by inhibition of JNK.

Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

The Role of Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor in Critical Illness [PDF]
Emerging evidence suggests a pivotal role of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) in the systemic inflammatory immune response. MIF is located in various cell types and rapidly released after different stimuli like inflammation, surgical stress or ischemia and reperfusion.

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...
