Metabolic and epigenetic regulation of macrophage polarization in atherosclerosis: Molecular mechanisms and targeted therapies

open access: yesPharmacological Research
Atherosclerosis, a multifactorial progressive inflammatory disease, is the common pathology underlying cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The macrophage plasticity is involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.

Electrical Microneedles for Wound Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A review on state‐of‐art research concerning electrical microneedles applied for wound treatment is presented. After a comprehensive analysis of mechanisms of electrical stimulation on wound healing, the derived three types of electrical microneedles are clarified and summarized. Further, their applications in wound healing are highlighted.

Immune cells interactions in the tumor microenvironment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a critical role in cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and resistance to therapy. A principal component of the TME is the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME), which includes various immune cells such as macrophages.

ROS‐Responsive Microneedle Patches Enable Peri‐Lacrimal Gland Therapeutic Administration for Long‐Acting Therapy of Sjögren's Syndrome‐Related Dry Eye

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new strategy for constructing smart gel‐based MN patches is developed to overcome the insufficient drug delivery of eye drops to the lacrimal gland. The gel‐based MN patches achieved long‐acting drug release in a ROS‐responsive manner, and separable base in a temperature‐responsive manner.

Pregnane X Receptor Activation in Liver Macrophages Protects against Endotoxin‐Induced Liver Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Endotoxemia‐related acute liver injury has a poor prognosis and high mortality, and macrophage polarization plays a central role in the pathological process.

A reaction-diffusion model for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This paper aims to investigate a reaction-diffusion model which describes in-host infection for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) allowing random motion (i.e. linear diffusion) and chemotaxis (i.e. non-linear diffusion) of macrophages and bacteria populations.

Osteosarcoma Cell‐Derived Migrasomes Promote Macrophage M2 Polarization to Aggravate Osteosarcoma Proliferation and Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Migrasomes are newly discovered organelles in migrating cells. This study finds that osteosarcoma cell‐derived migrasomes promote the tumor‐promoting phenotype of macrophages and further aggravate osteosarcoma malignant progression via milk fat globule‐EGF factor 8.
