The frequency of macroprolactinemia in pregnant women and the heterogeneity of its etiologies. [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1996
We surveyed pregnant women for macroprolactinemia and examined the heterogeneity of its etiologies. Serum samples obtained from 105 pregnant women (29.7 +/- 4.4 yr) during the third trimester were treated with polyethylene glycol, and 3 women (2.9%) were found to have a significantly high proportion of precipitated prolactin (PRL).
