The effect of arsenicals on cell suspension cultures of the Madagascar periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus)

Applied Organometallic Chemistry, 1989
AbstractCatharanthus roseus cells were grown in the presence of arsenite, arsenate, methylarsonate and dimethylarsinate. Cell growth and arsenical uptake were monitored. Reduction of arsenate, methylation of arsenic and demethylation of methylarsenic species are described.

Polyphenols as Mitigators of Metal‐Induced Stress in Madagascar Periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus L.)

Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry
ABSTRACTUnderstanding the mechanisms by which plants respond to oxidative stress is crucial for ensuring agricultural sustainability. Plant growth and development get severely affected from the stress induced by environmental factors. Heavy metals like lead (II) nitrate are one of the major causes of abiotic stress.
