An Accurate GNSS-Based Redundant Safe Braking System for Urban Elevated Rail Maglev Trains

open access: yesInformation, 2020
The association of elevated rail structures and Maglev (magnetic levitation) trains is a promising alternative for urban transportation. Besides being cost-effective in comparison with underground solutions, the Maglev technology is a clean and low-noise

Inching control of Superconducting Maglev Train

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Industry Applications, 2000
In the Yamanashi Maglev (magnetic levitation) Test Line, running tests commenced on 3 April 1997, and have progressed well. The world record 552km/h run of manned 5-car unit was attained on 14 April 1999. “Reliability verification tests” are being planned for fiscal 2000.

Sliding‐Mode Control of Electromagnetic Suspension Systems Considering Disturbance Compensation

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study proposes an integrated control strategy for magnetic levitation systems, combining a cascaded linear extended state observer with an improved sliding‐mode control. This method accurately estimates and compensates for disturbances, significantly enhancing suspension stability and rejection capability.

An Intelligent Coupling 3-Grade Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Approach With AHP for Selection of Levitation Controller of Maglev Trains

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
During recent years, maglev transportation has made great progress, and as a result, many intelligent levitation control algorithms have emerged. However, enterprises often find it difficult to make a choice when faced with the selection of a controller.

Research on the Dynamic Characteristics of a Typical Medium–Low-Speed Maglev Train–Bridge System Influenced by the Transverse Stiffness of Pier Tops

open access: yesApplied Sciences
With the continuous development of maglev transportation technology, medium–low-speed maglev trains have been widely implemented in many countries. However, due to the limitations of existing specifications, the stiffness limit values of the large-span ...

A Nonstationary Geometry‐Based Model for Channel Characterisation in Vactrains Scenarios Using Leaky Coaxial Cables

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas &Propagation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
In this paper, a 3D multi‐source GBSM model is proposed for the vacuum tube scenario using LCX. By equating the periodic slots to multiple magnetic dipole antennas, the electric field distribution of LCX is deduced, and the CIR expression is derived. Based on this, the multi‐link spatial‐temporal correlations, including the spatial CCF and temporal ACF,

Research on Lightning Coupling Rule of the Equipment Port of Maglev Train

open access: yes机车电传动, 2020
Compared with the traditional wheel-rail train, the maglev train is more vulnerable to lightning strikes due to the lack of contact net protection. In severe cases, it will cause damage to the vehicle-mounted equipment and affect the safety of the train.

Research on the impact of air-blowing on aerodynamic drag reduction and wake characteristics of a high-speed maglev train

open access: yesThe Physics of Fluids, 2023
The maglev train fills the speed gap between ground transportation and airplanes. However, the increasing train speed results in greater energy losses due to increased aerodynamic drag, impeding the green and sustainable development of high-speed ...

A Multi‐Objective Optimal Synchronous Modulation Strategy for Three‐Level Converter Through Switching Angle Regulation

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a novel power loss reduction PWM (PLRPWM) strategy for three‐level neutral point clamped inverters. The proposed strategy aims to achieve multi‐objective optimisation by balancing low output harmonics, reduced switching losses and a balanced neutral‐point potential. ABSTRACT Three‐level neutral point clamped (3L‐NPC) converters have
