Single Crystal Growth of Magnesium Diboride by Using Low Melting Point Alloy Flux [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Magnesium diboride crystals were grown with low melting alloy flux. The sample with superconductivity at 38.3 K was prepared in the zinc-magnesium flux and another sample with superconductivity at 34.11 K was prepared in the cadmium-magnesium flux.

Revolutionising inverse design of magnesium alloys through generative adversarial networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The utility of machine learning (ML) techniques in materials science has accelerated materials design and discovery. However, the accuracy of ML models - particularly deep neural networks - heavily relies on the quality and quantity of the training data.

Nondestructive spot test method for magnesium and magnesium alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
A method for spot test identification of magnesium and various magnesium alloys commonly used in aerospace applications is described. The spot test identification involves color codes obtained when several drops of 3 M hydrochloric acid are placed on the

Understanding effects of microstructural inhomogeneity on creep response – New approaches to improve the creep resistance in magnesium alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Previous investigations indicate that the creep resistance of magnesium alloys is proportional to the stability of precipitated intermetallic phases at grain boundaries.

Fatigue of Magnesium-Based Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Magnesium alloys and metal matrix composites (MMCs) are attractive materials for biomedical application. Magnesium has a module of elasticity that is close to that of human bones and it is biocompatible with the human body.

Effect of alloying elements on magnesium alloy damping capacities at room temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Alloying is a good approach to increasing its strength but leads to a reduction of damping to pure magnesium. Classifying the alloying characteristics of various alloying elements in magnesium alloys and their combined effects on the damping and ...

Influence of Heat Treatment on the Corrosion Behavior of Purified Magnesium and AZ31 Alloy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Magnesium and its alloys are ideal for biodegradable implants due to their biocompatibility and their low-stress shielding. However, they can corrode too rapidly in the biological environment. The objective of this research was to develop heat treatments to slow the corrosion of high purified magnesium and AZ31 alloy in simulated body fluid at 37{\deg ...
