Detection mechanism and magnetic field distribution characteristics for plate remote-field eddy-current testing

2017 Progress In Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Spring (PIERS), 2017
One advantage of remote field eddy current technology is that it is not limited by the skin effect; the technology can be used to detect defects in the inner or the outer wall of a pipeline. Studies have also found the remote field eddy current phenomenon while detecting plate conductors. Remote field eddy current technology is usually used in pipeline

Eddy Current and Magnetic Testing of Magnetic Material by Uniform Eddy Current Probe

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2005
Uniform eddy current probe comprised of an exciting tangential coil and a detecting pancake coil simultaneously conducts eddy current testing and magnetic testing of magnetic material. The eddy current testing detects parallel flaws to the magnetic flux and the magnetic testing detects perpendicular flaws.

A novel method for measurement of the electromagnetic parameters of magnetic rods using eddy current testing

Insight - Non-Destructive Testing and Condition Monitoring
Eddy current testing (ECT) is an effective technique for measuring electromagnetic parameters but it is affected by variations in probe lift-off. In order to suppress the effect of lift-off, a lift-off invariable feature is investigated for measuring the

Magnetization Time Lag Caused by Eddy Currents and Its Influence on High-Speed Magnetic Flux Leakage Testing

Research in Nondestructive Evaluation, 2018
ABSTRACTIn high-speed magnetic flux leakage (MFL) testing, the tested workpieces pass rapidly through magnetizers. Thus, the magnetization time for workpieces is short. Because of the eddy current effect, the magnetic field inside the workpieces cannot instantly reach equilibrium, and if the magnetizing time is insufficient for the field to reach ...

Eddy Current Magnetic Signature (EC-MS): Experimental tests and Simulations

2021
Plastic deformations and residual stresses inevitably occur in metallic components due to industrial machining or heat treatment processes. These local changes of the microstructure affect the real-life performance of industrial parts. Measurements and analysis of residual stresses are necessary for quality assurance and maintenance anticipations.

Theoretical Simulations and Quantitative Magnetic Field Measurements for Eddy-Current Testing with an HTS SQUID System

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2013
The use of a Superconducting QUantum Interference Device (SQUID) magnetometer for quantitative measurements in eddy-current nondestructive evaluation is presented. The SQUID is used in absolute mode, and the magnetic field measurements are directly compared to theoretical results from both analytical and semi-analytical models.
