Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation, 2017
AbstractEddy current and Barkhausen noise nondestructive testing techniques were considered to evaluate the magnetic properties of the decarburised steels as a function of microstructure. To make changes in decarburising depth, carbon steel samples were austenitised at 890 °C for 120–270 min.

Materials Science Forum, 2016
Eddy current testing and metal magnetic memory testing, cooperated with special testing devices, were applied to detect the superficial defects of old cylinder barrel. It was indicated that there were three types of the signals, which were non-defect signals, discontinuous peak signals and continuous peak signals.

Eddy current effect essentially occurs when relative movement happens between steel pipe and axial magnetization coil in Hi-speed MFL (magnetic flux leakage) testing. Based on the forming mechanism of eddy-current, the eddy-current magnetic field distributions in different parts were obtained, and it was found that the eddy-current magnetic field and ...

Upper Limit Frequency Analysis of Eddy Current Testing for High Conductive Plate
Cybersecurity and Cyberforensics Conference, 2022Eddy current testing (ECT) based on electromagnetic induction can detect surface and near surface defects on conductive materials. Frequency is an important parameter in ECT detecting non-ferromagnetic plate materials due to the skin effect of ...

Research on star-shaped coil probe in eddy current testing of aluminum plate
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and MechanicsTo detect defects from different angles and overcome the potential omission issues of traditional eddy current probes, this paper proposes a star-shaped eddy current probe composed of four coils based on defect decomposition theory.

Optimal design of remote field eddy current testing probe for ferromagnetic pipeline inspection
, 2021Remote field eddy current (RFEC) nondestructive testing has its unique advantages in defect detection of metal pipelines, such as being unaffected by skin effect and material properties, but the size of RFEC probe is large and the signal received by the ...

This paper presents torque analysis and testing of an eddy current brake with permanent magnets using semi-three-dimensional (3-D) analytical magnetic field calculations. The magnetic field solutions are obtained by considering the eddy current reaction using a 2-D magnetic vector potential and 3-D case by a simple and effective axial dependence ...
