AbstractHomogeneous radiofrequency magnetic fields are necessary for production of high‐quality magnetic images and for most forms of magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It is often convenient to map the radiofrequency homogeneity associated with a resonant device by measuring the magnetic image intensity of an aqueous phantom placed within the resonator.

Abstract After a summary of the observations of cosmic magnetic fields, I briefly discuss the status of dynamos, the use of electric circuits, the physics of magnetic explosions, the role of magnetic tension and our strongest magnet known, the radio pulsar. Finally I mention a few problem areas which may show a breakthrough in the near future.

A vertically draining thin ferrofilm under the influence of gravity and a nonuniform magnetic field is considered. It is observed experimentally that the presence of the magnetic field greatly alters the drainage of the film. A mathematical model is developed to describe the behavior. Experiments are conducted for multiple magnetic field configurations.
