Induction of Different Sensitization Patterns of MRSA to Antibiotics Using Electroporation

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Treatment of bacteria-associated infections is complicated and antibiotic treatment alone is often inadequate to overcome biofilm infections. Physical methods allow overcoming this problem and propose solutions that are non-dependent on drug resistance ...

Magnetic Field Amplification and Reconstruction in Rotating Astrophysical Plasmas: Verifying the Roles of α and β in Dynamo Action

open access: yesParticles
We investigate the α and β effects in a rotating spherical plasma system relevant to astrophysical contexts. In particular, we focus on how kinetic and magnetic (current) helicities influence the magnetic diffusivity β.

Evolution of magnetic fields in stars across the upper main sequence

open access: yes, 2005
To properly understand the physics of upper main sequence stars it is particularly important to identify the origin of their magnetic fields. Recently, we confirmed that magnetic fields appear in Ap stars of mass below 3 M_sun only if they have already ...

N$_f$ = 1 QCD in External Magnetic Fields: Staggered Fermions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We investigate N$_f$ = 1 QCD in external magnetic fields on the lattice. The background field is introduced by means of the so-called Schrodinger functional.

Dynamo activities driven by magneto-rotational instability and Parker instability in galactic gaseous disk

open access: yes, 2013
We carried out global three-dimensional magneto-hydrodynamic simulations of dynamo activities in galactic gaseous disks without assuming equatorial symmetry.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Primordial magnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Large scale magnetic fields represent a triple point where cosmology, high-energy physics and astrophysics meet for different but related purposes. After reviewing the implications of large scale magnetic fields in these different areas, the role of ...

Magnetic scattering of Dirac fermions in topological insulators and graphene

open access: yes, 2010
We study quantum transport and scattering of massless Dirac fermions by spatially localized static magnetic fields. The employed model describes in a unified manner the effects of orbital magnetic fields, Zeeman and exchange fields in topological ...

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

A Large Magnetic Hump in the VLISM Observed by Voyager 1 in 2020–2022

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Voyager 1 has been moving through the very local interstellar medium (VLISM) for approximately one solar cycle, from 122.58 au on 2012/DOY 238 (August 25) to 158.5 au on 2023.0. Previously, an abrupt increase (“jump”) in the magnetic field strength B and
