TAG magneto-optic ceramics and its application in high power optical isolators

Sixteenth National Conference on Laser Technology and Optoelectronics, 2021
Terbium aluminum garnet(TAG) is an excellent magneto-optic(MO) material with high Verdet constant and high thermal conductivity, but it is difficult to grow large-size TAG crystal due to its incongruent melting characteristic. By fabricating TAG ceramics through solid-state sintering, this problem can be effectively circumvented.

Magneto-optic conduction in electrolytically filled ceramics channels

International Conference on Science and Technology of Synthetic Metals, 1994
Summary form only given. The technical feasibility great boons of ceramic engineering i.e. optical fiber, superconductivity etc. seems to be low lying as regards their commercial viability is concerned. Our magneto dynamic experimentation over a variety of electrolytes and polymeric systems belonging to metallic Si(IV) & Ti(IV) respectively reveals ...

Novel (Tb0.99Ce0.01)3Ga5O12 magneto-optical ceramics for Faraday isolators

Scripta Materialia, 2020
Abstract (Tb0.99Ce0.01)3Ga5O12 powders were synthesized by calcining the co-precipitated precursor at 1150 °C. The powders showed low-agglomeration and high sinterability, so that the powders compact could be sintered to be transparent by a two-step sintering method.

Fabrication of magneto-optic YIG ceramics (Conference Presentation)

Laser Technology for Defense and Security XIV, 2018
Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) is an important material for high power infrared isolators as well as in microwave applications. When processed in bulk polycrystalline form, the transmission of this cubic material is greatly affected by non-stoichiometry and porosity content.

Fabrication, microstructure and magneto-optical properties of Tb3Al5O12 transparent ceramics

Optical Materials, 2016
Abstract Terbium aluminum garnet (Tb 3 Al 5 O 12 , TAG) transparent ceramics were fabricated by the solid-state reactive sintering of a mixture of commercial Tb 4 O 7 and α-Al 2 O 3 powders with tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and MgO as sintering aids.

Transparent non-stoichiometric Tb2.45Hf2O7.68 magneto-optical ceramics with high Verdet constant

Scripta Materialia, 2021
Abstract Transparent Tb2.45Hf2O7.68 ceramics were fabricated successfully by reactive sintering at 1700 °C for 3 h with hot isostatic pressing (HIP) post-treatment at 1700 °C for 3 h. In-line transmittance of the Tb2.45Hf2O7.68 ceramic specimen with the thickness of 2.0 mm reached 79.4% at 1064 nm.

Fabrication and characterizations of highly transparent Tb3Ga5O12 magneto-optical ceramics

Optical Materials, 2019
Abstract Terbium gallium garnet (TGG) precursor was synthesized by the co-precipitation method from the mixed solution of terbium and gallium nitrates using ammonium hydrogen carbonate (AHC) as the precipitant. Fine and low-agglomerated TGG powders with the average particle size of 158 nm were obtained by calcining the precursor at 1100 °C for 4 h ...

Optimization of CeO2 as sintering aid for Tb3Al5O12 Faraday magneto-optical transparent ceramics

Journal of Materials Science, 2015
CeO2 was doped in Tb3Al5O12 (TAG) magneto-optical transparent ceramics which were synthesized by solid state reaction and vacuum sintering. All the samples were highly transparent, the XRD results showed no secondary phases, and the XANES manifested that almost all Tb ions in the samples are trivalent.

Effect of Si4+ doping on the microstructure and magneto-optical properties of TAG transparent ceramics

Optical Materials, 2018
Abstract The Si-doped TAG transparent ceramics were fabricated successfully using solid state reaction and vacuum sintering. Influence of Si4+ doping (0-0.6at%) on microstructure and magneto-optical properties of TAG ceramics was investigated. It was found that doping Si4+ into TAG was conductive to remove the porosity and improve the optical quality
