A multiphase model for exploring electrochemical Marangoni flow

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2023
A multiphase numerical model based on the volume of fluid (VOF) method is proposed to simulate the transient, electrochemically-generated Marangoni flow in a system comprising a NaOH electrolyte and a eutectic gallium–indium (EGaIn) metal droplet.

Experimental and numerical investigations of arc plasma expansion in an industrial vacuum arc remelting (VAR) process

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
In the present study, we investigate arc plasma expansion in an industrial vacuum arc remelting (VAR) process using experimental and numerical tools. Stainless steel is the alloy of interest for the electrode (cathode) and ingot (anode).

Magnetohydrodynamics as Superfluidity [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2019
We show that relativistic magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) can be recast as a novel theory of superfluidity. This new theory formulates MHD just in terms of conservation equations, including dissipative effects, by introducing appropriate variables such as a magnetic scalar potential, and providing necessary and sufficient conditions to obtain equilibrium ...

Dynamo Action in Magnetohydrodynamics and Hall‐Magnetohydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2003
The first direct numerical simulations of turbulent Hall dynamos are presented. The evolution of an initially weak and small-scale magnetic field in a system maintained in a stationary regime of hydrodynamic turbulence (by a stirring force at a macroscopic scale) is studied to explore the conditions for exponential growth of the magnetic energy.

Impact of Submerged Entry Nozzle (SEN) Immersion Depth on Meniscus Flow in Continuous Casting Mold under Electromagnetic Brake (EMBr)

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Complex multi-phase phenomena, including turbulent flow, solidification, and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) forces, occur during the continuous casting (CC) under the applied electromagnetic brake (EMBr).

PAINLEV´E TEST OF A MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMICS SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2015
One approximation of magnetohydrodynamics equations, which describe the cosmic object’s magnetic field, is considered. The analytic properties of a nonlinear system are investigated by Painlev´e test.

Direct comparisons of compressible magnetohydrodynamics and reduced magnetohydrodynamics turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Direct numerical simulations of low Mach number compressible three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (CMHD3D) turbulence in the presence of a strong mean magnetic field are compared with simulations of reduced magnetohydrodynamics (RMHD). Periodic boundary

Simulation research on arc extinguishing characteristics of 35kV self-detaching lightning protection device based on magnetohydrodynamics

open access: yes电力工程技术, 2023
To explore the factors affecting the arc extinction performance of the self-disengaging lightning protection device, a numerical simulation model of arc extinction process of the device based on magneto-hydrodynamic theory is established in this paper ...

Affine Lie-Poisson Reduction, Yang-Mills magnetohydrodynamics, and superfluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper develops the theory of affine Lie-Poisson reduction and applies this process to Yang-Mills and Hall magnetohydrodynamics for fluids and superfluids.
