Effect of a generic main bearing catalogue on the power density of main bearing system predesigns

Abstract Main bearings for wind turbines (WTs) are typically custom made and not chosen from a public bearing catalogue. Predesigning the WT main bearing system (MBS) based on public bearing catalogues, the uneven distribution of bearing types, diameters and width can result in a suboptimal bearing selection.
