MALDI Profiling and Applications in Medicine

2014
Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry allows for the rapid profiling of different biomolecular species from both biofluids and tissues. Whilst originally focused upon the analysis of intact proteins and peptides, MALDI mass spectrometry has found further applications in lipidomic analysis, genotyping, microorganism ...

Quick quantification of proteins by MALDI

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2015
Previously, we reported that the matrix‐assisted laser desorption ionization spectrum of a peptide became reproducible when an effective temperature was held constant. Using a calibration curve drawn by plotting the peptide‐to‐matrix ion abundance ratio versus the peptide concentration in a solid sample, a peptide could be quantified without the use of

MALDI‐TOF characterization of macromonomers

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 1996
AbstractMethacryloyl endfunctionalized oligostyrene macromonomers were characterized by matrix assisted laser desorption ionization/time of flight (MALDI‐TOF) spectroscopy and by isocratic and gradient high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The molar mass distribution derived by the different techniques coincide for the investigated oligomers ...

MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry

2013
Major strengths of mass spectrometry analysis include the accuracy of the detection principle, automatic data storage as well as simplicity and flexibility of assay design making it a premier choice for targeted genotyping of sequence variations. We explain the assay principle in detail and give step-by-step laboratory instructions. Finally, references

Revisit of MALDI for small proteins

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 1995
Abstract Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) was used for several small proteins (such as insulin) and for peptides. It was found that the detection efficiencies of MALDI for the insulin B chain and the insulin A chain are drastically different. Similar phenomena were also observed for various types of peptides.

MiS-MALDI: microgel-selected detection ofproteinbiomarkers by MALDI-ToFmass spectrometry

Molecular BioSystems, 2010
Abstract Intensified efforts to decipher the origin of disease at the molecular level stimulate the emergence of more efficient proteomic technologies. To complement this, attempts are being made to identify new predictive biomarkers for building more reliable biomarker patterns.

MALDI MS Imaging of Cucumbers

2023
There are many different methodologies in the literature for the preparation of plant material for subsequent MALDI MSI analysis. This chapter overviews preparation of cucumbers (Cucumis sativus L.), with emphasis on sample freezing, cryosectioning, and matrix deposition.

MALDI MS Imaging of Amyloid

2006
Label-free molecular imaging by mass spectrometry allows simultaneous mapping of multiple analytes in biological tissue sections. In this chapter, the application of this new technology to the detection Abeta peptides in mouse brain sections is discussed.
