MALDI-2 and t-MALDI-2 Mass Spectrometry Imaging
2021Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) combined with laser-induced postionization for MALDI-2 enables the simultaneous registration of numerous classes of small molecules (e.g., secondary metabolites including sterols) as well as phospholipids, glycolipids, and glycans from tissue sections and from cell ...

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) is a key technique in mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics. MALDI MS is extremely sensitive, easy-to-apply, and relatively tolerant to contaminants. Its high-speed data acquisition and large-scale, off-line sample preparation has made it once again the focus for high-throughput proteomic analyses ...

Tissue MALDI Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MALDI MSI) of Peptides
2015Matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI MSI) is a technique to visualize molecular features of tissues based on mass detection. This chapter focuses on MALDI MSI of peptides and provides detailed operational instructions for sample preparation of cryoconserved and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue ...

Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization (MALDI) and Atmospheric Pressure-MALDI (AP-MALDI)
2020Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry is one of the most widely used soft ionization methods for biomolecules. Atmospheric pressure-MALDI was introduced, increasing the ease of sample preparation and allowing for the analysis of volatile molecules, as the sample no longer needs to be placed under vacuum prior to analysis.

MALDI, AP/MALDI and ESI techniques for the MS detection of amyloid β-peptides
International Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2009Abstract Amyloid β-peptides (Aβs) are involved in several neuropathological conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and considerable experimental evidences have emerged indicating that different proteases play a major role in regulating the accumulation of Aβs in the brain.

Revisit of MALDI for small proteins
Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 1995Abstract Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) was used for several small proteins (such as insulin) and for peptides. It was found that the detection efficiencies of MALDI for the insulin B chain and the insulin A chain are drastically different. Similar phenomena were also observed for various types of peptides.

A MALDI Probe for Mass Spectrometers
Analytical Chemistry, 1997A new MALDI probe has been designed that uses transmission geometry. This geometry allows the probe to be fashioned after typical EI/CI solid probes which enables it to be introduced into spatially constrained ion source regions such as encountered in quadrupole ion trap mass spectrometers.
