Fibrotic Fortresses and Therapeutic Frontiers: Pancreatic Stellate Cells and the Extracellular Matrix in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 11, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is characterized by a unique tumor microenvironment (TME) that plays pivotal roles in cancer progression, angiogenesis, metastasis, and drug resistance. This complex and dynamic ecosystem comprises cancer cells, stromal cells, and extracellular matrix (ECM) components, which interact ...

Novel Cisplatin-Magnetoliposome Complex Shows Enhanced Antitumor Activity via Hyperthermia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
There are several methods to improve cancer patient survival rates by inducing hyperthermia in tumor tissues, which involves raising their temperature above 41{\deg}C. These methods utilize different energy sources to deliver heat to the target region, including light, microwaves or radiofrequency electromagnetic fields.

Beyond Conventional Approaches: The Revolutionary Role of Nanoparticles in Breast Cancer

open access: yesMedComm – Biomaterials and Applications, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
This review explores integrated approach of nanotechnology to breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. We highlight imaging techniques for tumor detection and biomarker analysis in biological samples for early diagnosis. Advanced therapies, including targeted drug delivery and antibody‐drug conjugates, enable precise medication transport to cancer cells,

Temperature inside tumor as time function in RF hyperthermia [PDF]

open access: yesPrzeglad Elektrotechniczny, 2010, 86(12) 42-45, 2017
A simplified 2-D model which is an example of regional RF hyperthermia is presented. Human body is inside the wire with exciting current and the electromagnetic energy is concentrated within the tumor. The analyzed model is therefore a coupling of the electromagnetic field and the temperature field.

Benzodiazepine and Opioid Withdrawal Induced Neuroleptic Malignant Like Syndrome: A Clinical Case Report With Management Complexities

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 45, Issue 2, June 2025.
This case report describes a 54‐year‐old man who developed Neuroleptic Malignant‐like Syndrome (NMLS) following the abrupt withdrawal of high‐dose benzodiazepines and opioids. The report highlights the diagnostic challenges in differentiating NMLS from Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome and emphasizes the critical role of GABAergic dysregulation in its ...

Comparison of Phasic Store‐Operated Calcium Entry in Rat Slow‐ and Fast‐Twitch Muscle Fibers

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 241, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim This study investigates the activation and regulation of phasic store‐operated calcium entry (pSOCE) in fast‐ and slow‐twitch skeletal muscle fibers. Specifically, we aimed to enhance the sensitivity of pSOCE detection in slow‐twitch fibers by optimizing ionic conditions and to compare the physiological relevance of pSOCE between fiber ...
