Measurements of Oxalic Acid, Oxalates, Malonic Acid, and Malonates in Atmospheric Particulates
Environmental Science & Technology, 2008This study systematically examined effects of analytical approaches on resultant concentrations of oxalic acid, oxalates, malonic acid, and malonates. Results demonstrated that employing separate water extraction and THF extraction is required to properly quantify dicarboxylic acids vs dicarboxylates using IC or GC-MS.

Hydration and ion pairing of maleinates, malonates, and substituted malonates in aqueous solution
Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 1: Physical Chemistry in Condensed Phases, 1976Association constants and enthalpies of association for salts of maleic acid, malonic acid and substituted malonic acids with alkali metals and alkaline earth metals were measured colorimetrically in aqueous solution. Agreement with previous determinations by other methods was obtained.
