Effect of atmospheric organic complexation on iron-bearing dust solubility [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2013
Recent studies reported that the effect of organic complexation may be a potentially important process to be considered by models estimating atmospheric iron flux to the ocean. In this study, we investigated this process effect by a series of dissolution

Decarboxylative Michael Additions of Substituted Malonic Acid Half‐Oxyesters to Methylidene Malonates

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Substituted malonic acid half oxyesters reacted with alkylidene malonates in a fast, efficient decarboxylative Michael addition, delivering adducts in high yields. The reaction occurred in bulk solvent, open to air, needing only a weak amine base as an organocatalyst to drive a mechanism involving addition prior to decarboxylation.

Synthesis and Reactivity of Tricarbonyl(1-ethoxy-carbonyl-2-methylpentadienyl)iron(1+) Cation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The title cation was prepared in two steps from the known (ethyl 3-methyl-6-oxo-2,4-hexadienoate)Fe(CO)3. Reation of the cation with NaBH3CN, methyl cuprate, phthalimide, water, PPh3, or malonate anions gave predominantly the products from nucleophilic ...
