Patterns of Tree Species Abundance and Diversity on Urban Sidewalks in Macapá, Amapá, Brazil

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 2, March 2026.
This study presents the first systematic inventory of street trees in Macapá, Northeastern Brazilian Amazon. Results reveal a dominance of exotic and fruit‐bearing species, low tree density, and a replacement of large canopy trees by smaller ones, indicating potential losses in ecosystem services and the need for more biodiversity‐focused afforestation

Evaluation of Glycemic and Lipid Profile of Offspring of Diabetic Wistar Rats Treated with Malpighia emarginata Juice

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
Knowing that maternal diabetes is related to hyperglycemia and fetal hyperinsulinemia, which affect the lipid metabolism, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Malpighia emarginata (acerola) juice on the glycemic and lipid profile of offspring of diabetic and nondiabetic Wistar rats.

WHEY BASED BIOPOLYMERIC COATING AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF FRESH FRUITS (MALPIGHIA EMARGINATA D.C.) FROM SOUTHERN BRAZIL

open access: yesJournal of microbiology, biotechnology and food sciences, 2022
Refrigeration and coating of active biopolymers are two potential approaches to extending the shelf life of fresh fruits. Thus, the aim of this study was to test the influence of storage temperature (5 and 10 °C ± 1 °C) and whey concentration (edible coating), on functional, physical-chemical, and microbiological characteristics of acerola stored for ...

Oviposition Activity of an Invasive Fruit Fly Species at Different Densities in Laboratory

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 1, Page 45-52, January 2026.
Bactrocera carambolae Drew & Hancock, 1994 (Diptera: Tephritidae) is a major fruit fly pest affecting Brazil's international fruit trade due to phytosanitary restrictions. Although currently restricted to northern Brazil, little is known about its oviposition behavior. In this study, we investigated the daily oviposition pattern of B.
