A comparative study between mixed-type tumours from human salivary and canine mammary glands

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2007
Background In comparative pathology, canine mammary tumours have special interest because of their similarities with human breast cancer. Mixed tumours are uncommon lesions in the human breast, but they are found most frequently in the mammary gland of ...

Essential embryology for the Canadian pathologists’ assistant

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Pathologists' assistants (PAs) are pivotal in healthcare, conducting autopsies and examining tissues under a pathologist's guidance. Embryology knowledge is crucial for PAs to accurately assess anomalies and identify pathologies. Yet, it is often overlooked in academic PA training programs.

Expression of Human NSAID Activated Gene 1 in Mice Leads to Altered Mammary Gland Differentiation and Impaired Lactation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Transgenic mice expressing human non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug activated gene 1 (NAG-1) have less adipose tissue, improved insulin sensitivity, lower insulin levels and are resistant to dietary induced obesity.

Integrated spherical nucleic acid nanoreactor mobilizes targeted PD‐L1 proteolysis and cuproptosis for robust breast cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This study provides an integrated spherical nucleic acid nanoreactor (denoted as AMCuD) for targeted PD‐L1 degradation and chemo‐dynamically enhanced cuproptosis to synergically elicit robust immunotherapy against the triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) growth, recurrence and metastasis.

Exploring Cerumen as an Alternative Matrix for Drug Detection and Quantification: Method Development and Application in Clinical Samples

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
An LC–MS/MS method was developed for the detection of 33 psychoactive medications in cerumen (earwax) and applied to the samples of 60 psychiatric inpatient volunteers. The findings highlighted the utility of cerumen as an innovative biospecimen in clinical toxicological analysis.

Mouse Mammary Intraductal (MIND) Method for Transplantation of Patient Derived Primary DCIS Cells and Cell Lines

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2016
The MIND method involves intraductal injection of patient derived ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) cells and DCIS cell lines (MCF10DCIS.COM and SUM225) inside the mouse mammary ducts [Video 1 and Figure 1 in Behbod et al. (2009)].

Role of SoxE transcription factors in development and disease

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Sox8, Sox9, and Sox10 arose by multiple rounds of genome duplications from a single SoxE gene in ancestral vertebrates. In this review, we will briefly discuss the molecular structure and function of SoxE transcription factors and their evolutionary origin. We will then discuss their expression, function, and developmental disorders.

DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN MAMMARY GLAND - A PRENATAL STUDY.

open access: yesJournal of Evolution of medical and Dental Sciences, 2012
fetuses of varying gestational ages, ranging from 33m.m C.R.L. to 270m.m.C.R.L. (i.e. from 8weeks to 32weeks of intrauterine life) were studied to note the developmental sequence of mammary gland. Tissues were prepared for microtomy by Paraffin wax embedding method.

Vaginal host–microbe signatures linked to placental outcomes in mares

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Ascending placentitis is a leading cause of late‐term pregnancy loss in mares. Although pathogens are presumed to ascend from the caudal reproductive tract, the association between the vaginal microbiome and placentitis has not been systematically examined.

Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma of the mammary gland

open access: yesRevista Electrónica Dr. Zoilo E. Marinello Vidaurreta, 2019
Primary sarcoma of the breast is a rare but aggressive entity that represents less than 1% of cancers in this organ. Its early anatomopathological diagnosis is important to be able to perform a complete surgical treatment.
