Proto-oncogene HER-2 in normal, dysplastic and tumorous feline mammary glands: an immunohistochemical and chromogenic in situ hybridization study

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2007
Background Feline mammary carcinoma has been proposed as a natural model of highly aggressive, hormone-independent human breast cancer. To further explore the utility of the model by adding new similarities between the two diseases, we have analyzed the ...

Blood Cell‐Camouflaged Liquid Metal Nanoconjugates Orchestrate Treg Depletion and STING‐Amplified Photothermal Immunity for Metastatic Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Whole‐blood biomimetic engineering transforms liquid metal nanoparticles into a tripartite immunotherapeutic platform that orchestrates regulatory T‐cell depletion, photothermal‐induced immunogenic cell death, and activation of the stimulator of interferon genes pathway.

Ductal tree ablation by local delivery of ethanol prevents tumor formation in an aggressive mouse model of breast cancer

open access: yesBreast Cancer Research, 2019
Background Prophylactic mastectomy is the most effective intervention to prevent breast cancer. However, this major surgery has life-changing consequences at the physical, emotional, psychological, and social levels. Therefore, only high-risk individuals

Integrated spherical nucleic acid nanoreactor mobilizes targeted PD‐L1 proteolysis and cuproptosis for robust breast cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This study provides an integrated spherical nucleic acid nanoreactor (denoted as AMCuD) for targeted PD‐L1 degradation and chemo‐dynamically enhanced cuproptosis to synergically elicit robust immunotherapy against the triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) growth, recurrence and metastasis.

Programmable three‐state nanoreactor for spatiotemporally controlled tumor therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The OMVs are shielded with a biocompatible Da–Ca shell, which prolongs its circulation period and promotes intratumoral accumulation. Importantly, the biocompatible Da–Ca shell can be controllably disintegrated in tumor microenvironment by using laser irradiation, generating in situ hyperthermia and releasing Ca2+.

Domestic dogs as environmental sentinel in comparative toxicologic pathology: Assessment of metals and rare earth elements concentrations in healthy and neoplastic mammary glands

open access: yesOne Health
Quantification of trace element concentrations in human and animal tissues has acquired great importance in the last few years, considering the pivotal role of these elements in several physiological and pathological processes.

Role of SoxE transcription factors in development and disease

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Sox8, Sox9, and Sox10 arose by multiple rounds of genome duplications from a single SoxE gene in ancestral vertebrates. In this review, we will briefly discuss the molecular structure and function of SoxE transcription factors and their evolutionary origin. We will then discuss their expression, function, and developmental disorders.

Vaginal host–microbe signatures linked to placental outcomes in mares

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Ascending placentitis is a leading cause of late‐term pregnancy loss in mares. Although pathogens are presumed to ascend from the caudal reproductive tract, the association between the vaginal microbiome and placentitis has not been systematically examined.

Duct‐level evaluation of mammary gland health, somatic cell count and bacterial flora in lactating jennies

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Assessing mammary gland health in donkeys is challenging due to the lack of species‐specific diagnostic criteria for subclinical mastitis. Although somatic cell count (SCC) is widely used in dairy ruminants, its diagnostic value in jennies remains unclear.

Breast Modular Resection Surgery Teaching Model Improves the Effect of Teaching Under Regional Anesthesia for Breast Conserving Surgery and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Day Surgery

open access: yesHealth Care Science, EarlyView.
This study validates a novel Breast Modular Resection (BMR) teaching model for breast‐conserving surgery under regional anesthesia. The BMR approach significantly improves surgical proficiency, reduces re‐excision rates and pain, and facilitates safe day‐case discharge with superior cosmetic outcomes. ABSTRACT Background Breast‐conserving surgery (BCS)
