AbstractAfter injection of isografted mammary tumor MM2 sensitized with rabbit antiserum, resistance was induced in C3H/He mice after repeated challenges with MM2. The serum taken from these mice was found to be cytotoxic against MM2 cells. The serum also inhibited the outgrowth of transplant of primary tissue culture cells of spontaneous mammary tumor

Abstract Various laboratories have reported differences in the mammary tumor incidence caused by the endogenous mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) in BALB/c mice. In order to resolve these differences, we have compared the MMTV specific nucleic acids extracted from BALB/c normal organs and tumor tissue obtained from laboratories reporting either a high

During the early decades of this century, three factors were found to play major roles in the genesis of mammary tumors in mice: the genetic constitution of the mouse, hormonal stimulation, and the milk-transmitted mammary tumor agent or virus (Bittner, 1939b, 1939d, 1942c). The fact that mouse strains with a high incidence of mammary tumors as well as

Comparative Aspects of Mammary Tumors
1974Publisher Summary Carcinoma of the breast continues to be a major problem and represents 23% of all cancer deaths in women in the United States and 25% in England, a percentage that has been reasonably stable over several decades. Over many years, a considerable amount of experimental data has accrued from the investigation of mammary tumors in ...
