Zymoseptoria tritici stealth infection is facilitated by stage‐specific downregulation of a β‐glucanase

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Plant cell walls constitute a major defence barrier against pathogens, although it is unclear how specific cell wall components impact pathogen colonisation. Pathogens secrete cell wall‐degrading enzymes (CWDEs) to facilitate plant colonisation, but damaged or infected cells are often a source of cell wall‐derived oligosaccharides that trigger ...

Studies on Mannan in Wood Pulp

open access: yesBulletin of the Agricultural Chemical Society of Japan, 1957
Octaacetyl 4-O-β-d-glucosyl-α-d-mannose was isolated by application of “Magnesol” chromatography from the acetolyzate of commercial dissolving pulp. This fact indicates the existence of the chemical linkages of mannose units to glucose residues in purified cellulose materials manufactured from softwood.

Current understanding of the role of the cell wall in Cuscuta parasitism

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
We comprehensively summarise the roles of plant cell wall in key processes of parasitism by the obligate stem parasite Cuscuta. Abstract The plant cell wall (CW) plays a crucial role in many aspects of parasitism by the obligate stem parasite, Cuscuta. Cuscuta parasitism begins with tight coiling around the host stem by the strong tensile force of the ...

Histiocytes: Multifaceted Regulators of Health and Disease

open access: yesVeterinary Clinical Pathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The mononuclear phagocyte system encompasses macrophages, dendritic cells (DCs), and monocytes. Tissue‐resident macrophages and dendritic cells arise during embryogenesis and are replenished either through self‐renewal or by monocytes during inflammation.

Super-resolution imaging of C-type lectin spatial rearrangement within the dendritic cell plasma membrane at fungal microbe contact sites

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2014
Dendritic cells express DC-SIGN and CD206, C-type lectins (CTLs) that bind a variety of pathogens and may facilitate pathogen uptake for subsequent antigen presentation. Both proteins form punctate membrane nanodomains (~80 nm) on naïve cells.

Human brain imaging with high‐density electroencephalography: Techniques and applications

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Recent technological advances have elevated high‐density electroencephalography (hdEEG) to the status of a reliable neuroimaging tool. This technique measures scalp potentials with high temporal resolution, which permits the non‐invasive detection and analysis of neural oscillations.

Salt Stress-Induced Ascorbic Acid Accumulation and Its Trade-Off with Mannan Content in Tomato

open access: yesHorticulturae
Salt stress causes osmotic stress and ion toxicity, often inhibiting plant growth and metabolism. However, salt-stressed tomato plants accumulate ascorbic acid, resulting in fruits with high commercial value.

Spatial Fertility Variation in China: The Role of Population Composition, Context and Spillover

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 31, Issue 8, November 2025.
ABSTRACT This study analyses spatial variation in fertility and its determinants, including their direct and spillover impact, in China. We apply spatial regression models to the 2000 population census. The results show, first, that there is significant spatial variation in fertility at the county level in China and that counties with similar fertility

The Effect of Clay‐ and Yeast‐Based Mycotoxin Binder on Performance, Lymphoid Organs, Blood Parameters, Immune Response and Haematology Parameters of Broilers Exposed to Aflatoxin B1

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 6, November 2025.
Broilers fed diets contaminated with 200 µg/kg AFB1 showed poor growth performance throughout the period. These adverse effects of aflatoxicosis may be associated with liver dysfunction, immune dysfunction and inflammation of immune organs. However, supplementation of 1 g/kg MAG counteracted the negative effects caused by AFB1, reducing liver ...
