Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals FLS2‐Dependent Hypoxia Signaling and ERF13‐Mediated Transcription During flg22‐Triggered Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs sc‐RNA sequencing, genetics, and phenotyping to systematically map the cell‐type‐specific immune responses triggered by flg22. It reveals FLS2‐dependent transcriptional reprogramming in epidermal and mesophyll cells, and uncovers crosstalk between immune and hypoxia signaling pathways.

Transfer of blood urea nitrogen to cecal microbial nitrogen is increased by mannitol feeding in growing rabbits fed timothy hay diet

open access: yesAnimal, 2012
The presence of the fermentable sugar d-mannitol in the diet improves nitrogen (N) utilization in rabbits. To clarify the mechanism by which d-mannitol improves N utilization, we studied the effect of d-mannitol on the fate of blood urea N in growing ...

Integration of Spatiotemporal Multi‐Omics in Peach Fruit Unravels a Metabolic Niche and the Genetic Basis of Trichome‐Mediated Stress Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study constructed the first spatiotemporal multi‐omics map of peach fruit and discovered a key candidate gene that synergistically regulates trichome development and drought tolerance through the jasmonic acid signaling pathway, providing insights into the coupling mechanism between development and stress resistance.

Predicting and Rationalizing Piezoelectricity in Racemic Bioorganic Molecular Crystals

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Racemic molecular crystals, composed of equal mixtures of chiral enantiomeric components, are predicted to exhibit significant piezoelectric responses and favourable mechanical flexibility. This study identifies organic and bioorganic racemates as promising candidates for sustainable, lead‐free materials, enabling next‐generation applications in energy

A New Pathway for Mannitol Metabolism in Yeasts Suggests a Link to the Evolution of Alcoholic Fermentation

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
The yeasts belonging to the Wickerhamiella and Starmerella genera (W/S clade) share a distinctive evolutionary history marked by loss and subsequent reinstatement of alcoholic fermentation mediated by horizontal gene transfer events.

Characterising the role of GABA and its metabolism in the wheat pathogen Stagonospora nodorum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A reverse genetics approach was used to investigate the role of γ-aminobutyric acid metabolism in the wheat pathogenic fungus Stagonospora nodorum. The creation of mutants lacking Sdh1, the gene encoding succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase, resulted in ...

Piperazine‐Functionalized Nanoparticles Enable Oral Insulin Delivery in Obese Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biologics have gained prominence as a rapidly advancing therapeutic modality for a diverse spectrum of medical conditions. Nonetheless, they are predominantly administered parenterally due to poor absorption through the gastrointestinal tract. Additionally, repeated injections of biologics such as insulin cause injection pain, leading to dose ...

Transcriptome sequencing of Saccharina japonica sporophytes during whole developmental periods reveals regulatory networks underlying alginate and mannitol biosynthesis

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2019
Background Alginate is an important cell wall component and mannitol is a soluble storage carbon substance in the brown seaweed Saccharina japonica. Their contents vary with kelp developmental periods and harvesting time. Alginate and mannitol regulatory

Quantification methods for carbohydrate compounds in biologicals: a review

open access: yesБиопрепараты: Профилактика, диагностика, лечение, 2023
Carbohydrate compounds are widely used as fillers and stabilisers in biological products. When present, these compounds guarantee that the active pharmaceutical ingredient will remain stable during production, transportation, and storage.

A novel compartment, the 'subqpical stem' of the aerial hyphae, is the location of a sigN-dependent, developmentally distinct transcription in Streptomyces coelicolor. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Streptomyces coelicolor has nine SigB-like RNA polymerase sigma factors, several of them implicated in morphological differentiation and/or responses to different stresses. One of the nine, SigN, is the focus of this article.
