Mannose-binding lectin and its genetic variants [PDF]
Mannose-binding lectin (MBL) is a collagen-like serum protein that mediates activation of the complement system and is of importance for host defence. Common variant alleles situated both in the promoter and structural region of the human MBL gene (MBL2) influence the stability and the serum concentration of the protein.

DRD2 Deficiency Underlies Pituitary Adenoma Dependent on Escherichia coli Translocation from the Gut
Dopamine receptor D2 (DRD2) deficiency disrupts epithelial barrier integrity in both the gut and pituitary gland, facilitating translocation of gut‐derived Escherichia coli into pituitary tissue. Intratumoral E. coli are phagocytosed by microglia, triggering GSDMD‐dependent pyroptosis and HMGB1 release, which subsequently activates MAPK signaling to ...

Anti-inflammatory effect of glucose—mannose binding lectins isolated from Brazilian beans
Selectins are essential for leukocyte recruitment in inflammation. Because of a lectin domain present in the selectin structure, we investigated the anti-inflammtory activity of six mannose–glucose binding lectins from brazilian beans: Dioclea guianensis-

The glycosyltransferase GALNT10 facilitates ovarian cancer metastasis through the induction of tumor cell EMT and tumor vascular dysfunction. GALNT10 enhanced the extracellular secretion of IGFBP7 through O‐GalNAc glycosylation modification at the T188 site, which subsequently interacts with CD93 on endothelial cells, leading to vascular remodeling ...

Mannose‐Binding Lectin Polymorphisms in Clinical Tuberculosis [PDF]
Mannose-binding lectin (MBL) mediates protection against infections by using the complement system, but certain microorganisms may increase infectivity by exploiting this host defense system. Thus, it has been speculated whether genetically determined low MBL levels may confer partial protection against certain intracellular microorganisms, such as ...

Differential carbohydrate recognition by Campylobacter jejuni strain 11168: influences of temperature and growth conditions. [PDF]
The pathogenic clinical strain NCTC11168 was the first Campylobacter jejuni strain to be sequenced and has been a widely used laboratory model for studying C. jejuni pathogenesis. However, continuous passaging of C.
