Mannose Ligands for Mannose Receptor Targeting
The mannose receptor (MR, CD 206) is an endocytic receptor primarily expressed by macrophages and dendritic cells, which plays a critical role in both endocytosis and antigen processing and presentation. MR carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs) exhibit a high binding affinity for branched and linear oligosaccharides.

The Synthesis of Mannose-6-Phosphate Using Polyphosphate-Dependent Mannose Kinase [PDF]
Mannose-6-phosphate (M6P) is involved in many metabolic pathways in life, and it has important applications in the treatment of diseases. This study explored a cost-effective enzyme catalytic synthesis method of M6P, using polyphosphate-dependent mannose kinase from Arthrobacter species.

Enzyme therapy in mannose receptor-null mucopolysaccharidosis VII mice defines roles for the mannose 6-phosphate and mannose receptors [PDF]
Enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) is available for several lysosomal storage diseases. Except for Gaucher disease, for which an enzyme with exposed mannosyl residues targets mannose receptors (MR) on macrophages, ERT targets primarily the mannose 6-phosphate receptor (MPR).

Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

New mannose derivatives: The tetrazole analogue of mannose-6-phosphate as angiogenesis inhibitor [PDF]
Two novel compounds with mannose-derived structure, bearing a tetrazole (compound 3) and a sulfone group (compound 4) in terminal position, have been prepared from methyl α-d-mannopyranoside in reduced number of steps. The angiogenic activity of 3 and 4 has been screened using the chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) method.

3,4,6-Tri-O-acetyl-1-S-acetyl-2-deoxy-2-S-phenylthio-α-d-mannopyranoside
The title compound was isolated as the unexpected reaction product from a reaction attempting to access a glycosyl 1-phosphate. The product was isolated in good yield, as one diastereoisomer, and was characterised by 1H, 13C, and 2D NMR, alongside HRMS ...
