Abstract Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a complex noncommunicable condition characterized by central obesity, insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and hyperglycemia. Epidemiological evidence shows that MetS affects a third of the global population; however, due to its complex pathogenesis and limited drug therapy options, the increasing ...

The mechanisms in glucose metabolism of aging hippocampus
Cognitive decline in elders stems from the irreversible loss and functional decline of neurons, with the hippocampus being particularly susceptible to age‐related neuronal deterioration. Glucose acts as the primary fuel for the brain, and a constant provision of glucose to the hippocampus is essential for memory and cognitive functions.

This narrative review uniquely addresses how gut microbiota‐derived metabolites mediate overlapping pathologies of insulin resistance, neuroinflammation, and amyloidogenesis in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and Alzheimer's disease (AD), proposing a framework for dual therapeutic targeting.

Novel particulate vaccine candidates recombinantly produced by pathogenic and nonpathogenic bacterial hosts : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology at Massey University, Manawatu, New Zealand. [PDF]
Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are biopolyesters synthesized as small spherical cytoplasmic inclusion bodies by a range of bacteria. Recently, PHA beads have been investigated for use as a vaccine delivery platform by using engineered heterologous ...

This study demonstrates that hypoacylated, rough‐type lipopolysaccharides (LPS) derived from Akkermansia muciniphila strain HW07 (ALPS) alleviates diet‐induced obesity. ALPS acts as a weak TLR4 agonist and significantly reduces weight gain, improves metabolic parameters, and restores gut barrier integrity in obese mice.

Bioactive glasses with controllable dual ion release capability are developed to aid bone regeneration. The bioactive glasses rapidly release lithium ions that exert an anti‐inflammatory effect, suppressing inflammation after bone injury. Simultaneously, the bioactive glasses slowly release strontium ions, which support bone formation by suppressing ...
