Mannose-Specific Lectins from Marine Algae: Diverse Structural Scaffolds Associated to Common Virucidal and Anti-Cancer Properties

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2019
To date, a number of mannose-specific lectins have been isolated and characterized from seaweeds, especially from red algae. In fact, man-specific seaweed lectins consist of different structural scaffolds harboring a single or a few carbohydrate-binding ...

A Simple Mannose-Coated Poly (p-Phenylene Ethynylene) for Qualitative Bacterial Capturing

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
A mannose-functionalized poly (p-phenylene ethynylene) was rationally designed to achieve selective detection of bacteria. The polymer was constructed as a signaling unit and was modified by attaching aminoethyl mannose using the carboxylic acid group at

Undetectable mannose binding lectin is associated with HRCT proven bronchiectasis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
AimThe aim of this study was to ascertain whether mannose binding lectin deficiency is implicated in coexistent rheumatoid arthritis and bronchiectasis and to determine whether undetectable mannose binding lectin confers poorer long-term survival in ...

Incorporation of Novel Synthetic Glycolipids in Liposomal Nanoparticles Affects Opsonization and In Vivo Clearance

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We prepared five glycosylated liposomal nanoparticles (G‐LNPs) to investigate the role of glycosylation and protein corona in modulating the in vivo behavior of G‐LNPs. We show that IgG and complement C3 adsorption enhanced liposomal nanoparticle clearance, with IgG promoting subsequent C3 binding.
