This book has reviewed the culture methods for a number of species. Considering value and demand, many of them seem to be candidates for commercial farming, but harsh biological and engineering realities limit the actual list. The best candidates spawn easily and do not have unusual dietary or environmental requirements.

Bloody flukes: a review of aporocotylids as parasites of cultured marine fishes

Fish blood flukes (Digenea: Aporocotylidae) are important pathogens of fishes in aquaculture. Severe infections have been associated with mass mortality events in cultured marine species of teleosts in Australia, Asia and Europe, leading to significant socio-economic losses.

Serious mortality among the cultured grouper Epinephelus coioides, characterized by a swollen intestine containing yellow fluid (gastroenteritis), occurred in 1993 in Taiwan. A bacterium isolated from the intestinal fluid and head kidney of moribund groupers was identified as Vibrio carchariae. Since then, the same Vibrio species has also been isolated
