Research on Evaporation Characteristics and Safe Storage Duration of Marine Liquid Hydrogen Storage Tanks Under the Coupling Effect of Heat Leakage and Sloshing

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Liquid hydrogen, a zero‐carbon and high–energy‐density fuel, is a promising option for future oceangoing vessels. During maritime transportation, onboard cryogenic tanks are exposed to ambient heat leakage and ship‐induced roll motion, which can trigger sloshing and fundamentally modify the coupled thermo‐fluid processes governing boil‐off and

Combined Gravimetric, Electrochemical, and Computational Research on Benzothiophene Derivatives as Effective Corrosion Inhibitors for Mild Steel

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Four benzothiophenes, thianaphthene (BT‐1), 3‐bromothianaphthene (BT‐2), benzo[b]thiophene‐2‐carboxaldehyde (BT‐3), and benzo[b]thiophene‐2‐carbonitrile (BT‐4), were tested as mild steel corrosion inhibitors in 1‐M HCl. The compounds have the similar benzothiophene core but differ in the substituents bound to the ring.

Synergistic Physicochemical Inhibition of Reactive Shale Formations Using Hydrothermally Synthesized Hydroxyapatite Nickel Tungstate Nanocomposites in Water‐Based Drilling Fluids

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Wellbore instability driven by the volumetric expansion of reactive shale formations remains a primary operational challenge in modern drilling engineering, causing severe mechanical failures and substantial economic deficits. The objective of this study is to formulate and evaluate a novel dual‐action chemical additive capable of ...

Additives Enhancing Biodegradability in Plastics and Potential Implications for Textiles: A Mechanistic Review

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Mechanistic insights from additive‐assisted plastic degradation guide the design of environmentally adaptive textile fibers. Functional additives enhance oxidative, hydrolytic, enzymatic, and microbial degradation pathways. Translating these strategies requires control of fiber architecture, additive distribution, and environmental interactions ...

Quantitative assessment of masticatory muscles based on skull muscle attachment areas in Carnivora

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Masticatory muscles are composed of the temporalis, masseter, and pterygoid muscles in mammals. Each muscle has a different origin on the skull and insertion on the mandible; thus, all masticatory muscles contract in different directions. Collecting in vivo data and directly measuring the masticatory muscles anatomically in various Carnivora ...

Functional models from limited data: A parametric and multimodal approach to anatomy and 3D kinematics of feeding in basking sharks (Cetorhinus maximus)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Basking sharks, Cetorhinus maximus (Gunnerus, Brugden [Squalus maximus], Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskabs Skrifter, 1765, vol. 3, pp. 33–49), feed by gaping their mouths and gill slits, greatly reorienting their cranial skeletons to filter food from water.
