Methodology: ssb-MASS: a single seed-based sampling strategy for marker-assisted selection in rice

open access: yesPlant Methods, 2019
Background Integrated breeding approaches such as combining marker-assisted selection and rapid line fixation through single-seed-descent, can effectively increase the frequency of desirable alleles in a breeding program and increase the rate of genetic ...

High throughput phenotyping method for water use efficiency in rice under field conditions : [Abstract, P 6.04] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A collaborative CIAT/Cirad project aims to create new improved upland rice germplasm for drought tolerance based on population improvement through recurrent selection (RS).

A microsatellite marker for yellow rust resistance in wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Bulk segregant analysis (BSA) was used to identify molecular markers associated with yellow rust disease resistance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). DNAs isolated from the selected yellow rust tolerant and susceptible F-2 individuals derived from a cross

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Controlling the Overfitting of Heritability in Genomic Selection through Cross Validation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In genomic selection (GS), all the markers across the entire genome are used to conduct marker-assisted selection such that each quantitative trait locus of complex trait is in linkage disequilibrium with at least one marker.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

A next-generation marker genotyping platform (AmpSeq) in heterozygous crops: a case study for marker-assisted selection in grapevine

open access: yesHorticulture Research, 2016
Marker-assisted selection (MAS) is often employed in crop breeding programs to accelerate and enhance cultivar development, via selection during the juvenile phase and parental selection prior to crossing.

Marker assisted backcross breeding in Maize Research Institute Zemun Polje [PDF]

open access: yesSelekcija i Semenarstvo, 2019
The backcross breeding is one of the most extensively used methods in different crop species. With the development of molecular genetics, molecular markers become widely used as a tool aiding conventional breeding.

Characterization of Akirin 2 gene in Langshan chicken

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2014
Akirin play an important role not only in innate immune response but also in skeletal myogenesis. The chicken’s Akirin gene family only has Akirin 2. We detected the coding sequences of the Akirin 2 gene in a Chinese indigenous chicken (Langshan chicken)

Evaluation of sorghum grain quality for QTL analysis and Marker Assisted Recurrent Selection (MARS) : [P1121] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sorghum breeding in Mali mostly focuses on varieties for human consumption. Even if most of breeding efforts concentrate on productivity and adaptation, grain quality is a very important aspect to consider for improved material to be adopted and ...
