Temperature‐Dependent Zinc Oxide Cathodoluminescence: Toward Compact Wavelength‐Tunable Solid‐State Photoionization Sources

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A proof‐of‐concept of a thermally‐tunable cathodoluminescence‐based light source is demonstrated using a wide‐bandgap z‐cut ZnO crystal as anode, resulting in the ultraviolet (UV) emission peak shifting from 398 nm to ~409 nm (3.115‐3.032 eV). Our results establish the feasibility of a compact, field‐deployable UV source with potential for gas sensing ...

Positional Advantage within Small Farms: Evidence from Illinois [PDF]

open access: yes
As the economic viability of small farms continues to be an issue facing policy makers and economists alike, a market orientation may be a valuable resource producers can develop as they compete in a marketplace dominated by larger firms.

Molecular Simulation of Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework Membranes for Inorganic Salt Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
Six functionalized TpPa‐based covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are characterized using nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations to assess water permeance and salt rejection. The TpPa‐SO3H COF membrane achieves the highest sodium sulfate rejection (>98%) while maintaining relatively high water permeance compared to commercial nanofiltration ...

A Covalent 3D CNT@rGO Nano‐Hybrid for High‐Efficiency Conductivity in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A facile one‐step CVD strategy achieves high‐yield (7692.31%) growth of CNTs on rGO, forming a covalently bonded 3D CNT@rGO hybrid. This structure enables multidirectional conductive networks in LiFePO4 cathodes, delivering superior rate performance, high ICE (99.88%), and 96.32% capacity retention after 300 cycles at 1 C.

Sexual orientation discrimination in hiring [PDF]

open access: yes
Little research has been done to examine discrimination against gays and lesbians in the labor market. Badgett (1995) conducted the only previous study investigating labor market outcomes of gays and lesbians using a random data set.
