The Goals and Approach of the Phoenix Mission for Evaluating the Habitabiity of the Northern Plains on Mars [PDF]

open access: yes
The first goal of the Mars Exploration program, as defined by the Mars Exploration Payload Analysis Group (MEPAG) is to determine if life ever arose on Mars [1]. The Phoenix landing site was chosen to sample near surface ground ice in the Northern Plains

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Limits on Optical Counterparts to the Repeating Fast Radio Burst 20180916B from High-speed Imaging with Gemini-North/‘Alopeke

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report on contemporaneous optical observations at ≈10 ms timescales from the fast radio burst (FRB) 20180916B of two repeat bursts (FRB 20201023 and FRB 20220908) taken with the ‘Alopeke camera on the Gemini-North telescope.

Towards Crew-Centered, Mission-Oriented Space Flight Training [PDF]

open access: yes
This poster describes a training approach that applies empirically derived principles of training to reimagining the overall design of NASA's space flight training program. The poster is focused specifically on the design of astronaut training for NASA's

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

The New Horizons Extended Mission Target: Arrokoth Search and Discovery

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Following the Pluto flyby of the New Horizons spacecraft, the mission provided a unique opportunity to explore the Kuiper Belt in situ. The possibility existed to fly by a Kuiper Belt object (KBO), as well as to observe additional objects at distances ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...
