Mas receptor contributes to pregnancy-induced cardiac remodelling

Clinical Science, 2016
Previous studies have demonstrated a protective effect of the Ang-(1–7)/Mas receptor axis on pathological cardiac hypertrophy. Also, the involvement of Mas receptor in exercise-induced cardiac hypertrophy has been suggested. However, the role of the Ang-(1–7)/Mas receptor on pregnancy-induced cardiac remodelling remains unknown.

Mas Receptor Agonists as Novel Antihypertensive Agents

Current Hypertension Reviews, 2012
It is well known that the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) plays a pivotal role in the control of the cardiovascular and renal systems and in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular and renal diseases. The classical concept of the RAS has been changed in the recent years by the inclusion of novels components. Among the novel components of the RAS, Angiotensin(

Mas and Its Related G Protein–Coupled Receptors, Mrgprs

Pharmacological Reviews, 2014
The Mas-related G protein-coupled receptors (Mrgprs or Mas-related genes) comprise a subfamily of receptors named after the first discovered member, Mas. For most Mrgprs, pruriception seems to be the major function based on the following observations: 1) they are relatively promiscuous in their ligand specificity with best affinities for itch-inducing ...

Pharmacology and Signaling of MAS-Related G Protein–Coupled Receptors

Pharmacological Reviews, 2014
Signaling by heptahelical G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) regulates many vital body functions. Consequently, dysfunction of GPCR signaling leads to pathologic states, and approximately 30% of all modern clinical drugs target GPCR. One decade ago, an entire new GPCR family was discovered, which was recently named MAS-related G protein-coupled ...

Mas receptor blockade impairs exercise-induced cardiac hypertrophy

Peptides
Exercise training leads to physiological cardiac hypertrophy and the protective axis of the renin-angiotensin system composed of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, angiotensin-(1-7), and Mas receptor seems involved in this process. However, the role of the basal activity of the Mas receptor in exercise-induced physiological cardiac hypertrophy is still ...

Mas receptors in modulating relaxation induced by perivascular adipose tissue

Life Sciences, 2011
Perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) is known to secrete vascular relaxation factors, and angiotensin 1-7 [Ang-(1-7)] acting on the endothelium is one of the endothelium-dependent relaxation factors. Mas protein is the receptor for Ang-(1-7). Using aorta from Mas-knockout (K/O) and wild type (FVB) mice, we wished to establish the essential role of Mas ...

Abstract P318: Signaling Pathways Triggered by the Mas Receptor

Hypertension, 2017
Mas receptor (MasR) is a class A Orphan G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). Although angiotensin-(1-7) [Ang-(1-7)] has been reported as its putative ligand, the intracellular signaling pathways activated by the MasR remain only partially characterized.

Angiotensin-(1-7) induces beige fat thermogenesis through the Mas receptor

Metabolism, 2020
Angiotensin-(1-7) [Ang-(1-7)], a component of the renin angiotensin system, is a vasodilator that exerts its effects primarily through the Mas receptor. The discovery of the Mas receptor in white adipose tissue (WAT) suggests an additional role for this peptide.

Expression of the Mas receptor is upregulated in skeletal muscle wasting

Histochemistry and Cell Biology, 2014
Skeletal muscle atrophy during sepsis, immobilization, and chronic diseases is characterized by an increase in expression and activity of the muscle-specific ubiquitin 3 ligases atrogin-1 and MuRF-1. The classical renin-angiotensin system (RAS), by high level of circulating angiotensin II (AngII) is directly involved in skeletal muscle wasting ...

Characterization and regulation of prolactin receptors in MA-10 Leydig cells

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1998
The aim of this study is to further characterize the prolactin receptors (PRL-R) previously reported in the murine Leydig tumor MA-10 cell line, as well as to study their homologous and heterologous regulation. Two forms of PRL-R, a high and a low molecular weight form, were revealed by studies of covalent crosslinking of 125I-human GH to cultured MA ...
