Imaging of Abdominal Complications in Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is the most common paediatric malignancy and remains one of the most common causes of cancer‐related death in children and adolescents. Five‐year overall survival rates now exceed 90% with current multidrug chemotherapeutic regimens. This improvement, coupled with the toxicity of chemotherapy, has led to the

Prognostic significance of prior alcohol use disorder in patients with presumed metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease: A large multi‐center cohort study

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Alcohol use disorder (AUD) follows a chronic, relapsing course but is often overlooked when alcohol consumption is minimal at the time of evaluation. We aimed to assess the prognostic impact of a prior AUD diagnosis on liver‐related outcomes in patients with presumed metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (

The Bidirectional Association Between MASLD and Male Hypogonadism: An Updated Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and male hypogonadism are increasingly prevalent, metabolically interrelated conditions. Testosterone (T) deficiency has been implicated in hepatic lipid dysregulation, insulin resistance, and visceral adiposity, whereas MASLD may impair the hypothalamic–pituitary ...

Impact of Single Viable Hepatocellular Carcinoma ≤ 3 cm on Survival After Liver Transplantation

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
An Australian multi‐centre cohort study shows significantly lower 5‐year HCC‐specific mortality for those with no viable disease compared to those with a single viable tumour ≤ 3 cm, on imaging prior to transplantation. A lower AFP level and complete response on mRECIST criteria also reduced risk.

When Machine Perfusion Falls Short: Identifying Risks of Liver Graft Failure After Normothermic Machine Perfusion

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Analysis of 4928 normothermic machine perfusion liver transplants reveals that recipient factors, particularly MELD ≥ 35, surgical complexity, ICU status, and functional impairment are stronger predictors of graft failure than donor characteristics, emphasizing the continued importance of clinical judgment in patient selection.
