Crowdsourcing Public Perceptions of Plastic Surgeons: Is There a Gender Bias?

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2018
Background:. Implicit gender bias may result in lower wages for women, fewer leadership positions, and lower perceived competence. Understanding public and patient gender preferences for plastic surgeons may enable opportunities to address public ...

Sensory Evaluation of Interference Suppression in Odor Reproduction Using Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Odor sensing enables us to sense odorant stimuli. This sensation causes a deep subconscious response in humans in various ways and represents an indispensable sensation in daily life.

Mass spectrum ofP-wave mesons

open access: yesZeitschrift für Physik C Particles and Fields, 1988
Mass splittings of mesons withL≧1 are discussed on the basis of a general spin-dependent potential consisting of a vector (V(r)) and a scalar (S(r)) part. For arbitraryV(r) andS(r), the four masses, for the three3 L J and the one1 L J=L levels, are given in terms of only three unknown expectation values 〈(1/r)(dV ...

On the meson mass spectrum in the covariant confined quark model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We provide a new insight into the problem of generating the hadron mass spectrum in the framework of the covariant confined quark model. One of the underlying principles of this model is the compositeness condition, which means that the wave function ...

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Holographic mesons in various dimensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We calculate the spectrum of fluctuations of a probe Dk-brane in the background of N Dp-branes, for k=p,p+2,p+4 and p< 5. The result corresponds to the mesonic spectrum of a (p+1)-dimensional super-Yang-Mills (SYM) theory coupled to `dynamical quarks', i.

Microscopic twisted-mass Dirac spectrum

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2012
The microscopic spectral density for lattice QCD with two flavors and maximally twisted mass is computed. The results are given for fixed index of the Dirac operator and include the leading order $a^2$ corrections to the chiral Lagrangian due to the discretization errors. The computation is carried out within the framework of Wilson chiral perturbation

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.
