The solution supramolecular structure of α2 → 8 polysialic acid suggests a structural cause for its low immunogenicity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
α2 → 8 polysialic acid elicits poor immunogenicity. Small‐angle scattering shows a supramolecular structure with parallel‐chain binding, although in different forms at μm and mm calcium. The major histocompatibility complex requires molecular weights around 2000 Da to produce antibodies, and 2000 Da polysialic oligomers will bind in these structures ...

Crowdsourcing Public Perceptions of Plastic Surgeons: Is There a Gender Bias?

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2018
Background:. Implicit gender bias may result in lower wages for women, fewer leadership positions, and lower perceived competence. Understanding public and patient gender preferences for plastic surgeons may enable opportunities to address public ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

A proteomic approach based on peptide affinity chromatography, 2-dimensional electrophoresis and mass spectrometry to identify multiprotein complexes interacting with membrane-bound receptors

open access: yesBiological Procedures Online, 2002
There is accumulating evidence that membrane-bound receptors interact with many intracellular proteins. Multiprotein complexes associated with ionotropic receptors have been extensively characterized, but the identification of proteins interacting with G

A Full Determination of the Neutrino Mass Spectrum from Two-zero Textures of the Neutrino Mass Matrix [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Lett. B539 (2002) 85-90, 2002
We show that it is possible to fully determine the neutrino mass spectrum from two-zero textures of the neutrino mass matrix. As a consequence, definite predictions can be obtained for the neutrinoless double beta decay.

Comparison of SUSY mass spectrum calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We provide a comparison of the results of four SUSY mass spectrum calculations in mSUGRA: Isajet, SuSpect, SoftSusy, and SPheno. In particular, we focus on the high tan(beta) and focus point regions, where the differences in the results are known to be ...

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

V_{ub} from the Hadronic Invariant Mass Spectrum in Semileptonic B Decay [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The hadronic invariant mass spectrum for the inclusive charmless semileptonic decay $B\to X_u e \bar\nu_e$ is studied.

The exotic baryon mass spectrum and the decuplet-octet and antidecuplet-octet mass difference in the Skyrme model [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D69:117501,2004, 2004
The octet, decuplet and antidecuplet baryon mass spectrum as a function of the Skyrme charge e and the SU(3)_f symmetry breaking parameters is given in tabular form. We also estimate the decuplet-octet and the antidecuplet-octet mass difference. Comparison with existing literature is given.
