Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Toward a fine knowledge of mass transfer kinetics, contribution from the microfluidic devices
International audienceDuring reactive liquid-liquid extraction, the mass transfer between phases is commonly considered as controlled either by the kinetics of the chemical reaction at the interface or by the diffusion of the solute through the two ...

Influence of the ionic composition on the diffusion mass transfer of saccharides through a cation-exchange membrane [PDF]
Recent studies have pointed out that the presence of salts can change significantly the membrane process performances because of the resulting modification of the neutral solutes transfer through the membrane.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Relationship between flow structure and mass transfer in fast fluidized bed
This paper analyzes the relationship between flow structure and mass transfer in fast fluidized beds for Geldart A and B particles. It does this by employing the eight heterogeneous local bed structural parameters (U(fd), U(fc), U(pd), U(pc), d(c), f ...

Excitation Energy Transfer and Trapping in Higher Plant Photosystem II Complexes with Different Antenna Sizes [PDF]
700 cm(-1)) and a slow relaxation of the radical pair to an irreversible state (similar to 150 ps). Somewhat unexpectedly, we had to reduce the energy-transfer and charge-separation rates in complexes with decreasing size to obtain optimal fits.

Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...
