Oxidation of nitrobenzene by ozone in the presence of faujasite zeolite in a continuous flow gas–liquid–solid reactor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This work investigates the oxidation of nitrobenzene (NB) by ozone in the presence of faujasite zeolite. Experiments were carried out in a gas–liquid–solid reactor were ozone transfer and NB oxidation took place at the same time.

Fundamental Understanding of Heat and Mass Transfer Processes for Physics-Informed Machine Learning-Based Drying Modelling

open access: yes, 2022
Drying is a complex process of simultaneous heat, mass, and momentum transport phenomena with continuous phase changes. Numerical modelling is one of the most effective tools to mechanistically express the different physics of drying processes for ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Mass transfer kinetics during osmotic dehydration of plum in sugar beet molasses [PDF]

open access: yesJournal on Processing and Energy in Agriculture, 2010
The paper examined osmotic dehydration of plums in different concentrations of sugar beet molasses solution (40, 60 and 80%), at a temperature of 45oC and atmospheric pressure.

Modeling multiphase fluid flow, mass transfer, and chemical reactions in bioreactors using large‐eddy simulation

open access: yesEngineering in Life Sciences, 2023
We present a transient large eddy simulation (LES) modeling approach for simulating the interlinked physics describing free surface hydrodynamics, multiphase mixing, reaction kinetics, and mass transport in bioreactor systems.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Osmotic treatment of nettle leaves in two different solutions-mass transfer kinetics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal on Processing and Energy in Agriculture, 2014
The presented paper describes an investigation of osmotic treatment of nettle leaves in two different osmotic solutions (sugar beet molasses and ternary solution), under atmospheric pressure, at room temperature.
