The Topological Non-connectivity Threshold and magnetic phase transitions in classical anisotropic long-range interacting spin system

open access: yes, 2005
We analyze from the dynamical point of view the classical characteristics of the Topological Non-connectivity Threshold (TNT), recently introduced in F.Borgonovi, G.L.Celardo, M.Maianti, E.Pedersoli, J.Stat.Phys.,116,516(2004).

Multimodal data augmentation for digital twining assisted by artificial intelligence in mechanics of materials

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
Digital twins in the mechanics of materials usually involve multimodal data in the sense that an instance of a mechanical component has both experimental and simulated data.

Post-stressed concrete foundation may reduce machinery vibration [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Post-stressing concrete mat foundation reduces excessive vibrations in machinery. The mat is stressed in compression after the machinery is mounted, thus closing any cracks in it, altering the distribution of the soil subgrade reaction on the mat, and ...

NRASQ61R Expression in Lymphatic Endothelial Cells Causes Enlarged Vessels, Hemorrhagic Chylous Effusions, and High Mortality in a Mouse Model of Kaposiform Lymphangiomatosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Characterization of hybrid composites produced with mats made using different methods

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2009
This work is focused on the development and evaluation of manufacturing methods to produce short fibers hybrid mats. Different methods were developed, including: aqueous and fluidized bed. Composites were molded to help evaluating the produced mats.

Random matrices and the replica method

open access: yes, 1999
Recent developments [Kamenev and Mezard, cond-mat/9901110, cond-mat/9903001; Yurkevich and Lerner, cond-mat/9903025; Zirnbauer, cond-mat/9903338] have revived a discussion about applicability of the replica approach to description of spectral ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Field theories of paramagnetic Mott insulators

open access: yes, 2003
This is a summary of a central argument in recent review articles by the author (cond-mat/0109419, cond-mat/0211005, and cond-mat/0211027). An effective field theory is derived for the low energy spin singlet excitations in a paramagnetic Mott insulator ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
