We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Peak Colocalized Orthogonal Matching Pursuit for Seismic Trace Decomposition
Orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) is an efficient method for decomposing a seismic trace with regard to an atom dictionary. The original OMP optimizes one unique single objective in terms of successively maximizing the inner product between an atom and ...

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Iris recognition using Dynamic Programming Matching Pursuit
[[abstract]]In this paper, we propose a new method named dynamic programming based matching pursuit algorithm for iris-based personal identification. Based on the matching pursuit algorithm, it selects the most representative path to do iris recognition.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Bayesian approach with extended support estimation for sparse linear regression
A greedy algorithm called Bayesian multiple matching pursuit (BMMP) is proposed to estimate a sparse signal vector and its support given m linear measurements. Unlike the maximum a posteriori (MAP) support detection, which was proposed by Lee to estimate

Matching pursuit feature based neural network pattern recognition of ball bearing faults
The task of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of rotating machinery faults is significant but is often cumbersome and labour intensive. Automating the procedure of feature extraction, fault detection and identification of rotating machinery has ...
