Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilköğretim öğrencilerinin matematik hakkındaki düşüncelerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırmaya bir dershaneye giden on dokuz 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf öğrencisi gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Öğrencilerle yaklaşık 40 dakika süren görüşmeler yapılmış ve görüşmelerde hayallerindeki matematikçinin resmini çizmeleri istenmiştir.
