Anharmonicity of BaTiO_3 single crystals

open access: yes, 2006
By analyzing the dielectric non-linearity with the Landau thermodynamic expansion, we find a simple and direct way to assess the importance of the eighth order term.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Non-linear vibration of functionally graded shallow spherical shells

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2010
The present paper deals with the non-linear vibration of functionally graded shallow spherical shells. The properties of shell material are graded in the thickness direction according to the power law distribution in terms of volume fractions of the ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Mode switching phenomenon in geometrically nonlinear free vibration analysis of in-plane inhomogeneous plates on elastic foundation

open access: yesCurved and Layered Structures, 2018
Effect of geometric nonlinearity onfree vibration behaviour of a non-uniform in-plane inhomogeneousplate on elastic foundation is carried out with an emphasis on mode switching phenomenon.

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Broad‐range, high‐linearity, and fast‐response pressure sensing enabled by nanomechanical resonators based on 2D non‐layered material: β‐In2S3

open access: yesInfoMat
Two‐dimensional (2D) non‐layered materials, along with their unique surface properties, offer intriguing prospects for sensing applications. Introducing mechanical degrees of freedom is expected to enrich the sensing performances of 2D non‐layered ...

Non-dispersive wavepackets generated in layered structures by a scanning laser source

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
In this article, we describe the use of a continuous-wave laser scanning method to generate non-dispersive surface acoustic wavepackets, which propagate along the sample surface without any waveform change.

A spin dynamics approach to solitonics

open access: yes, 2016
It is spatial dispersion which is exclusively responsible for the emergence of exchange interaction and magnetic ordering. In contrast, magneto-crystalline anisotropy present in any realistic material brings in a certain non-linearity to the equation of ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
