Fhod3 in zebrafish supports myofibril stability during growth of embryonic skeletal muscle

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Actin filament organization in cardiomyocytes critically depends on the formin Fhod3, but a role for Fhod3 in skeletal muscle development has not yet been described. Results We demonstrate here that in zebrafish mutated for one of two fhod3 paralog genes, fhod3a, skeletal muscle of the trunk appears normal through 2 days post ...

Mechanisms for racial separation and inequitable maternal care in hospital maternity wards

Social Science & Medicine, 2022

Separation in Unity: Dialogical Transformation of Maternal Bond

Integrative Psychological and Behavioral Science, 2022
The objective of this paper is to explore mothers' psychological adaptation related to separation from their newborn children immediately after birth. Mother and child separation has traditionally received attention from the child's perspective, but given that the bond is dyadic, the mother's wellbeing should also be considered.

Responses to maternal separation : mechanisms and mediators

International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience, 1998
AbstractClinical studies indicate the predominance of psychosocial factors (nurturing environment) in the genesis of the Maternal Deprivation Syndrome. Consequences of disrupting mother‐infant interactions range from marked suppression of certain neuroendocrine and physiological systems after short periods of maternal deprivation to retardation of ...

Premature maternal separation and lymphocyte function

Brain, Behavior, and Immunity, 1988
Premature separation of rat pups from their mothers, on postnatal Day 15, produced a decreased response of peripheral blood lymphocytes to phytohemagglutinin (PHA) at 40 days of age. A significant lymphopenia was also found in the early weaned animals at 40 days of age although this was accounted for statistically by their lower body weight.

Maternally separated rats show deficits in maternal care in adulthood

Developmental Psychobiology, 2001
AbstractAlthough there is considerable research on the phenomenology, neuroendocrinology, neuroanatomy, and sensory control of maternal behavior, little is known about the influences of early postnatal and postweaning experiences on the development of maternal behavior.
