Making Mathematical Connections

The Arithmetic Teacher, 1992
Mathematically literate students should view mathematics as a way of looking at their environment that aids understanding and adds insight This attitude toward mathe matics can be fostered in the daily routines of the classroom. Mathematical experiences need not be restricted to the “math period” but can be incorporated throughout the school day.

An Actualization Way of Mathematical Internal Connection in Mathematics Curriculum: Focused on Horizontal Connection of Mathematical Concepts

The Korean Society of Educational Studies in Mathematics - Journal of Educational Research in Mathematics
This study analyzes the New York State curriculum to identify reflection patterns of horizontal connections of mathematical concepts. We divided horizontal connection into connection within domain(WD) and connection between domains(BD) and analyzed the number and patterns of reflections by grade and type.

Connected components of graphs and reverse mathematics

Archive for Mathematical Logic, 1992
Statements about infinite graphs can be formalized in the language of Friedman and Simpson's subsystems of second-order arithmetic. Working in \(RCA_ 0\), the following results concerning decompositions of graphs into (maximal) connected components can be proved.

Bilingualism and Mathematics - Is There a Connection?

2005
In modern society bilingualism is a common phenomenon considered positive and preferable, especially nowadays in an era which tends to global connection. However, it has not been always like that. Until recently bilingualism has not been regarded as an advantage and early studies indicated negative cognitive consequences of bilingual development e.g ...
