Stokes' mathematical education [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2020
George Gabriel Stokes won the coveted title of Senior Wrangler in 1841, a year in which the examination papers for the Cambridge Mathematical Tripos were notoriously difficult. Coming top in the Mathematical Tripos was a notable achievement, but for Stokes it was a prize hard won after several years of preparation, and not only years spent at Cambridge.

Connecting Mathematics and Mathematics Education

open access: yes, 2021
This open access book features a selection of articles written by Erich Ch. Wittmann between 1984 to 2019, which shows how the “design science conception” has been continuously developed over a number of decades. The articles not only describe this conception in general terms, but also demonstrate various substantial learning environments that serve as

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
