Mathematics: A Place of Loving Kindness and Resilience-Building [PDF]
Places of mathematical learning are not always places of loving kindness. Instead, they are sometimes loci of undetected cultural violence (Galtung, 1969) and associated harm. We explore how Cousin’s (2015) interpretation of love in the context of early years relates to building mathematical resilience across the lifespan.

Resilience analysis: a mathematical formulation to model resilience of engineering systems [PDF]
AbstractThe resilience of a system is related to its ability to withstand stressors, adapt, and rapidly recover from disruptions. Two significant challenges of resilience analysis are to (1) quantify the resilience associated with a given recovery curve; and (2) develop a rigorous mathematical model of the recovery process.

Changes in South American surface ozone trends: exploring the influences of precursors and extreme events [PDF]
In this study, trends of 21st-century ground-level ozone and ozone precursors were examined across South America, a less-studied region where trend estimates have rarely been comprehensively addressed.
